Originally designed in 2012 by Mark Adley and colleagues at N2L in North Tyneside in the UK, the Drugs Wheel Game was revised in 2026 by Daphne Formigoni and Professor Marcelo Tadeu Marin from Araraquara, Brazil.
Daphne and Marcelo piloted their new gameplay at the Academic League for Research and Teaching on Alcohol and other Drugs (PEnsAD) and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of São Paulo State University.
Mark and Daphne then collaborated further on the gameplay, and Mark created the design elements and instructions:
